UroSolutions Australiasia P/L is the exclusive distributor for UroCycler(TM), a new small, unique Bio-Tech medical device developed over the past ten years, which permits the natural function of cyclical filling and drainage of the bladder when an indwelling catheter is being used. It is attached externally to a urinary catheter. It's function is to allow the catheterized bladder to resume the normal rhythm of filling and emptying, rather than a constant state of emptying and all the problems inherent with this state, such as:* Bladder atony;* Residual volume with PH changes; and* Struvite crystal formation and infection.Simply put the UroCycler(TM) is considered the solution to the challenge of cathetenzation, particularly long-term catheterization.The UroCycler (TM) mechanism is a unique magnetic coupling, which is sensitive to hydrostatic pressure and designed to uncouple when bladder pressures reach normal values, 25-30 mg H2O. Thus allowing flushing at NORMAL physiological pressures.The UroCycler(TM) also works as an anti-reflux valve that prevents microbe-laden urine from going past the magnetic seal and up into the urinary tract.It is accepted that high incidence of urinary infection occur with catheterization, to near 100% of those on constant drainage and that by the use of the UroCycler(TM) the above problems can be better addressed.Cost benefit analysis has shown that in using the UroCycler(TM) substantial savings can be anticipated by avoiding or reducing associated urinary tract infections and other morbidities associated within infections.
